I didn't fully realize how many memorial portraits I would do when I started this business. I love being able to work on beautiful pets of all shapes and sizes, their eyes, their expressions, capturing a little of their personality. But, the memorial portraits, take a special place in my heart. Being able to honor someone's treasured best friend by creating a portrait for them is completely heartwarming and something I never take lightly.
I often hear from recipients how they love being greeted by their portrait when they walk in the door. The eyes, obviously, are the most important part of a memorial portrait. With Joe, above, his tongue out was also a part of what made Joe "Joe".
Teddy was more about the nose and mouth with his little eyes. How cute is that face though?
Baxter was well-loved and quite the character. Cat's eyes are just amazing.
Zoe, our own special little fuzz face. I waited quite a while before creating her portrait. I finally got her done for my husband's birthday. I was a little apprehensive as I knew he would notice if I didn't get that look "just right".
Please reach out if you or someone you know would love to have a special tribute to their pet.
I'm amazed how often "hearts" will organically appear in a memorial portrait. In the case of Olly, to the right, you can see he clearly has a heart to the side of his eye, even in the photo.
Thanks for taking time to hear a little about my process and how much these lovely pets mean to me. Do let me know if you have any questions or want to reserve a spot for a commission.
